Taking Flight

Last week I began my first ever online course with artist Kelly Rae. If you don't know her you should. I have this book...and it is amazing!!

She is teaching us everything from living out our creative dreams to giving us ways to grow our blogs, etsy shops and websites. I must admit...at first I was scared to sign up. I mean $99 bucks for a class sounded a bit extravagant...money is tight at the moment and we are trying hard not to spend. But try as I might every time I though about NOT taking the class my heart sank and I could hear little whisperings urging me to go ahead and just do it. So I did.

So happy I did.

So very happy I listened to my heart.

Here are a few of my thoughts I've jotted down in my journal so far this week...

In the still spaces of my heart, my whispers are telling me...

*to write
*to be me/authentic
*to share, encourage and inspire others
*to focus on Words of Me Project Blog
*to make my writing dreams come true

What an eye-opening, soul searching week this has been. I have stretched myself, my heart this week in ways that will help me grow into the ME I want to BE. It is very exciting!!!  I have

I am also learning to...

Along with learning and growing I have connected with several inspiring bloggers this week who are taking the class, too. Be sure and stop by...you won't be sorry!!

A few other items to note..."Make My Mondays" returns tomorrow!! Look for my interview with photographer and cook Rhonda Steed!!

And finally...as you may know my husband and I have been on a weight loss journey since the first of April. He has lost nearly 25 pounds and I am down 13!!! This photo was taken last November. Looking pretty chubby and I was feeling miserable. Just not healthy at all!!

Now check out this one of me taken on Mother's Day!!

My face is so much thinner. And if this was a full length photo you would really notice!! Here is Dave...he is sooo thin!! Just 2 weeks ago...

We just started our second round of HCG Friday. We both want to lose 13 to 15 more pounds!!!

Stop by Monday for our "Make My Monday" interview!!!!!

  1. Lovely to meet you via Kelly's course. I was thinking to myself what a great design you have for your blog then spotted it was a Plumrose Lane one - snap! The lady who designs these is so talented. I recommended her in the comments on one of Kelly's posts. I think this course will definitely be worth the $99.

  3. Dear Leslie- thanks you so much for the kind words you left on my blog today and the link. I am so glad that you decided to take Kelly's class. One of the things that really struck me is her complete honesty about...well, everything!. I think it gives us all courage to be honest about our fears as well. I Think it's so great that you are on a journey of being healthy(ier) and losing weight. It gets more difficult as we get older:( But both of you look REALLY great.
Do you scrapbook? I took up scapping when I was pregnant (couldn't be exposed to all the toxic paint) and I love it. Passing down memories to future generations-priceless! See you in class tomorrow and thanks again for your HUGE support at my blog:) Hugs xxx

  6. That class sounds amazing and refreshing.
You can really see the loss in your face. You shine, and look so healthy!
Not because I need to lose weight, but I think I need to start exercising. Now that school is out for the summer I get no walking done. It's not that I need to lose weight, but I just need the endorphins running and the adrenaline, the energy. I always feel so tired and exhausted, even when I get plenty of rest. It's an awful feeling.

  9. dear Leslie-That's too funny. Before your explanation, I thought...who is this teenage boy on my blog and why is he interested in what I have to say??? the name just screams gamer/teenage/boy LOL:)
we had such a great summer day-picnic, long walk, gardening...I am savoring each moment because i know it will all fly by. How are you enjoying the class-so much info...I am overwhelmed but I love how Kelly breaks it down so I can actually understand:)

  10. First of all, you look GREAT. I know a lot of people who've been on the HCG diet and they all look great too. I suck at dieting. The longest I ever lasted on a diet was a half a day. How pathetic is that?
