Birthday Book-Wordy Wednesday

Welcome to Wordy Wednesday!! Just LOVE the project I'm gonna share with you today. It's Emma's Birthday Book. Now keep in mind I created this little gem when scrapbooking was all about Mrs. Grossman's stickers and die cuts. So while the earlier pages are gonna look dated this is one project you must try!!

Here is the cover {like I said this is gonna look dated:) }
I mean look at that lettering!! {LOL} Before Em celebrated her first birthday I found this spiral bound album at Hobby Lobby for a couple of bucks. It's  a bit bigger than a 5x7 but smaller than an 8 x10. The pages inside are a cream color. I knew I wanted to create more than just a few pages for Em...I wanted to include an autograph page of those that attended her party..

This has become priceless through the years as her Grandma Ackman passed away right after Em's 3rd birthday. She loves reading what Grams had to say about her here.

I added a page for the presents she received...

{again...look at that lettering. Remember when those books were so in?!}

Every year I take a photo of her cake and put in this special book. This one is from her 5th birthday party!!

Here's Em's first birthday!!

A sweet photo with her brother. Aren't they cute?!

Another darling photo at her 5th party...

My absolute favorite part of the book is the section where I take 2 pages and write my daughter a letter letting her know how very much I love and cherish her. I also include what she likes at the time, some family stuff we did during the year, etc.

Here is a page from last May...she turned 12!

We keep this book in our living room and look at it often. I am so thankful I had the insight to do this almost 13 years ago.

The bad thing?

I never did one like this for Jacks. Makes me sad. I don't know why...I do have tons of birthday layouts AND I have written him several letters.

My advice to you? Even if your children are older...start a birthday book today!! I think I'll do that for my son...he would appreciate it even though I started it late.

After all it is never too late to begin capturing memories is it?  Of course not!

  1. This is an awesome idea! I think I'll start one for both the boys. Next month is David's 2nd birthday and I think I'll do the autograph page too. Thanks!

  2. I totally agree, Leslie! Since I was so late into scrapping, I ended up giving my daughter her memory book for her 21st birthday. I saw it at her house the other day and realized there were a few pages I needed to complete (She's now nearly 30!!-- OOPS). But starting a book specifically for birthdays....what a great way to celebrate it by going back thru the book each year!! Thanks for the great idea.
