Trying my Best

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.  -Henry Ellis

I am trying my best. Trying to do as much as I can with a big smile on my face.

I am trying to learn the art of letting go of those things which I don't need in my life right now, while holding on to those things which matter the most.

The only problem I see is that so much matters to me...

There is so much I want to do with my days.

I simply cannot fit it all in.

And still keep a smile on my face.

So, it's time to stop and think about what really does matter to me and do only those things.

*creating art
*writing/blogging
*spending time with family
*keeping my house picked up
*teaching and learning in Church

Sounds simple enough, doesn't it? But when you add all the responsibilities of everyday life in there and man, time just goes...it vanishes...

For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work. -Doug Larsen

Today is Friday...one of my favorite days of the week. Today I will take advantage of a few hours this afternoon and use them wisely, in my art space, creating something just for me.

And I will think about this quote...

Much may be done in those little shreds and patches of time which every day produces, and which most men throw away. -Charles Caleb Colton

....And try my best to remember it on those days I feel like there isn't enough time.

Do you feel this way? Does time just vanish? Do you take advantage of those "moments" and spend it doing your favorite things? I would love to hear!!!

  1. haha - 8 hours of sleep and 8 hours of work. HA! I need 9 hours of sleep and between commuting and working, I am gone for almost 12 hours a day, so that leaves me with...

3 hours each day during which time I have to feed the kid breakfast and get myself ready for work, eat dinner, put her to bed, get myself ready for bed and try to carve a few minutes out to relax or *gasp* sit and watch a tv show.

This is a sore topic for me this week since I have had more than usual to do in my 'off' time. So, I am sleep deprived and behind in like EVERY area of my life. moments? I save em all up for the weekends. then try to cram in errands, cleaning, yard work, family time and me time.

  5. Some days time vanishes but some days, like when food is calling to me, time drags on. I hate that!

  6. Well you know I do!! I just want to be able to keep up with my family and the housework at this point. Anything after that would be a huge bonus!!!

  7. I feel like I am CONSTANTLY searching for that lost time. So much on hold in my life with hubby being deployed that I feel like I am indeed losing this "fight" called balance

  8. I so know what you mean - and I'm even more sure of it this week (it seems like I haven't had time to even read blogs for days now ... hence the midnight comment on your blog here.) I don't know how to find time in the day and try and get some of "me" back ... maybe next year. {sigh}
