New Beginnings

Begin somewhere: you cannot build a reputation on what you intend to do."  -Liz Smith

I adore fall.

I mean I love it, love it

love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything about it.

Cooler days and even colder nights.

Warm, cozy, snuggly.

Hot soups and fresh from the oven bread.

"Autumn.. the year's last, loveliest smile. "
--William C. Bryant

For as long as I can remember the first of September has been a "new year" of sorts for me. Resolutions from January are long gone as well as those lazy, summer days.

It's during this time of year I find myself more determined than ever to learn and grow and become the person I know I can be.

You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. -Mike Murdock

Last week we wrapped up the 31 Days Creativity Challenge. I don't know about you...but that really had a positive impact on me and how I spend my time. That quote above is so true. Change just one thing you do everyday and you will change your life. Love that!

By being creative everyday {even if it was just thinking about writing ideas or thumbing through a magazine} I find myself ready to try new things. For instance, every year at our local tech school there is an oil painting class. I had never even thought about taking that class...

until now.

I am ready to sign up and learn how to paint.

An entire landscape...

on a canvas...

with oils.

Pretty cool.

I am also ready to take another on-line course. What makes this one extra cool is who is teaching it...

My new friend Jodi. I met Jodi through Flying Lessons and not only love her blog but she is one creative and spiritually inspired woman. Can't wait!

With the anticipation of the changing seasons I am ready to commit to new goals, inspirational projects and getting to know even more of you.

I look forward to the coming season in my life.

''Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.'' - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Be sure and stop by sometime Friday for a few peeks at the Restoring Honor Rally my family and I attended last Saturday. Incredible!!

So, I would love to you have any plans, goals, creative ideas for fall? Please leave a comment. I would love to hear what you're up to.

Also...I need your email address if you participated in the 31 Days Challenge!!

  1. Leslie,
I am continually amazed at how we are alike in so many ways...everything you wrote about fall and the quotes you selected...I agree with it all!!! Thanks so much for your sweet words about me and about the e-course. I have been writing away...and it is like I am taking it myself! THANKS!

  2. Have fun painting! I miss my art days! It's smelly, slightly messy and TONS of fun. And spend a little (really a lot) extra for the good paints, brushes, and sheet of 1/4" sheet of glass for the palette. The price you pay for the good stuff will enhance the experience and the finished paintings.

  3. Isn't fall just the best?! I love everything about it too : ) I am so sad to see pumpkin spice lattes back at Starbucks because it's another year I won't be able to have them, sniff, sniff.... I am doing a great Bible study about overcoming food addictions and it's wonderful. I hope I am strong enough one day to enjoy warm bread and hot soup and not feel like I'm going to go crazy with food after I eat a little bit.

Oh, I would have LOVED to go to the Restoring Honor Rally! That must have been totally awesome!!

  4. This post is great!! The quotes are so motivating!!!! Just what I need to read after a long week of work!!! Can't wait to see your photos!!!

  5. Oooh, a paint class! HOW fun! It's wonderful that you will do something for yourself and out of the house - I took a mixed media class at my local community college a while ago and loved every minute of it. I hope you have the same experience and enjoy!
    Love those quotes too, xo

  6. Hey Sugar Booger! You know how much O LOVE Fall...I just get all giddy inside. But since Earl pulled out of town last night he left us with a high temp today of 99 degrees!!!!! I SO HATE EARL NOW!!!!!

I am looking forward to the cooler temps, the fall smells and local Harvest Festivals...but I'm not sure if my arse will fit in any of my jeans!!!!!!

    Have a great holiday weekend!!!!!

  7. I so love autumn in the Pacific Northwest (I haven't experienced it elsewhere but I'm sure it's just as fabulous!).

This fall I plan on reorganizing, re-energizing and making some cool collages...

Let's get this season started! :)

  8. Fall - yes. Ragweed - no. Sigh.

  9. This ecourse sounds VERY INTRIGUING-are you planning on taking it? I would love to join in!

I appreciate your thoughts and ideas...they inspire me!! I will be visiting you soon. Have a CREATIVE day!!
