This years WORD? Well, I have thought about it for the past 2 months. At first CREATE kept coming to mind. But no, I want to do more than just CREATE. I want this WORD of mine to encompass everything I want to accomplish from my weight loss to my creativity to the way I live my life. So after thinking and thinking and thinking here is the WORD that kept popping in my mind....
reinvent
1.
to invent again or anew, esp. without knowing that the invention already exists.
2.
to remake or make over, as in a different form: At 60, he reinvented himself as a volunteer. We have an opportunity to reinvent government.
3.
to bring back; revive: to reinvent trust and accountability.
Author Lesley Garner says this about self reinvention...
"Do what you love. Do something because you really want to. You can't lose. Your passions can become useful in surprising ways. Each time you have to reinvent yourself you will find that the life you have lived is every bit as important as the job you have been paid for. What lies behind successful self-reinvention is the act of giving value to everything we have done. What should you be doing with your life? You should be doing what you think is valuable"
I chose REINVENT because I want to become a better me. I want to take a look at my life and know that I have been successful in many areas of my life and I know I can use those success's to help me find my way with future goals. I love many parts of me but there are those areas in my life that need help. In 2011 I want to become whole. I want to take my passions that fuel my spirit and fly!!

I would love to hear about your goals and your WORD for 2011!! Please share in the comments:)
Great word! And aggressive list of goals!
ReplyDeleteMy word is Simplify. That will be my driving force in 2011. If I work on what simplify means to me, I will exceed any goals I could possibly set. So goals and resolutions...not on my radar screen right now.
Here's to a fantastic start to 2011!
Great word! You are so organized with your plans! - impressive
ReplyDeleteI actually have two words that I picked this year.
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me how my words just build on each other from year to year.
In 2008- my word was FREEDOM. And in this year my world FELL APART! Some might think that would be horrible. But in order for me to embrace freedom I had to come to the end of my ropes.
In 2009 - it was RESTORATION. It was a continuation of 2008 and a rebuilding year for me.
In 2010 - my two words were BELIEVE and ACTIVATE. After two years of embracing freedom and restoration, I stepped into a place of new found confidence and identity. I no longer wanted to dream but actually put my dreams to action. I quit my job and started my own non profit. It's been an amazing year.
So we finally get to this year....
My two words for this year -
MOMENTUM - to continue to move forward at every level in my life. This includes physically, spiritually, emotionally and professionally. I love this word.
AND:
FROLIC - which seems to be such a silly word, but I love it. It means to be playful and to be merry. I want to FROLIC through this next year and be playful and bring that to others along I meet along the way. Learning to FROLIC enhances ones life.
Please come and visit my blog as well.
Gosh Leslie..once again I can just about say "ditto" to your whole post!! I've heard some really great words for the Word of the Year...Believe, Thrive, Transform and Reinvent...love them all and it's pretty cool how they all work together to bring about the same goal. I also really like the quote from Lesley Garner...so cool! I need to post that somewhere and read it daily. Sure do appreciate ya and your words! Have a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletegreat word and great goals. I chose a word yesterday but I think I am going to copy you and blog about it. My word is consistent because I have tons of goals in all areas of my life but I am really inconsistent about working on them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a FANTASTIC word!!! I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI just love these lists and goals and words, dear leslie!!! So inspiring, so motivating, so driven, so focused, so organized, so . . . brilliant. I can't wait to grow this year with you, dear dear friend! Now let's look at our calendars and figure out when we can meet!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of words
ReplyDeletePicking the right word can be a challenge sometimes, I am down to 2 possiblities but having a hard time picking
